It's right next to my computer desk, so that's my second screen, so it works well for pivoting if I'm working on a model or doing something on my PC.

Yes I plan to rationalize it and phase out the Tamiya and stay with Mr Hobby. That'll free up some more space
for the other odd's and sods.

Ps. The rack was made from recycled planking off a old International harvester.
Lovely timber if a bit stringy. Wish I had more of it.

You and me both my friend. As much as I try I end up with barley enough room for the kit even though I clear it up before every project. Once I figure out how to do it I'll post a couple of pictures.

The sidearm is just something in the UK that we find, well, odd. Its I suppose a 2nd nature thing but here......

Hi Everyone,

New to the forum and thought I would share my WIP Model Den having decided to take the plunge and create a proper dedicated space just for all things model related. Its also keeping me busy during my time at home during the lockdown and the fact I am currently a furloughed worker.

Bit of a mess at the moment. Making all my own benches and racks using any bits I can find and using some old pc gear I had in the loft. I found some sheets of 6mm mdf so might have a go at making my own hobbyzone drawers and racks. Workspace is 12x5ft just off the side of the house.

While not strictly the main work area. I built this tray to placate the missus she reckons I'm not spending enough time with her. So now I can do some of a build whilst she watches telly and those never ending escapes to the country and the like. Still it seems to please her so far that I'm in the same room....mentally I'm gone. Yeah I know what I said guys


Note the divisions to stop stuff sliding ...well it needs some more...and the designer cut out so it doesn't cut into the forearms

Yes any longer and narrower it would be classified a tunnel but Its nice to have somewhere out of the way and keeps it all separate from the house.

Made a rack to fill in some space on the right, today. Got a desktop to go over my tool cabs and then I have what was a welding table I made years ago which is now just a very strong table.

Strip the Bench down, put tools away, Clean Brushes in a cleaning Solution of choice, Hoover the floor and generally tidy away and get ready for next project.

I finished the Eduard, Profipack, 1/48, BF109G-6 yesterday, and no soon as the AK Engine Grime was still wet, I stripped the Bench down.
I have an old Blue Towel on top of Bench (The Bench / Table is an old, 1930's Teachers Desk I rescued from a Skip outside one of the schools I look after in Stafford), to protect the lovingly waxed and polished top, I lay this thick Blue Towel over the top.
Took all my Mugs, which serve as storage for tools off, all tools are cleaned, and new blades inserted into Scalpels and other Hobby Knifes.
All Brushes cleaned, and put away, all Paint Pots checked for tops properly on, and cleaned around tops.
Floor Hoovered, Bin emptied and generally and good clean-up. Its my end of Project Mantra, and it works for me.
Then everything put back on bench, and Cutting Mat flipped over Some buy a new Cutting Mat, but this one is still going strong, the new one is under it
Here are a few shots / images of my beloved Man-Cave, place of contemplation, many Prayers (is this bloody thing gonna stick on, and where the hell did that ping off to? )








Ready for next project / and excited as to what to start?

your not alone I clear down like that most times I stop for the day swore I was strange but works for me

any ideas whats your next project, the BF 109G-6 looks amazing by the way, I have a BF110f Im waiting for but keep looking out for a 109

Firstly, Eduard Weekend or Profipacks are lovely kits, with few or none Aftermarket required, most come with lovely coloured PE, Canopy Masks and great Decals, and the kit fitted well in most respects and for a first Winged thing in 35 years, a real Gods Send.
Secondly, glad to hear I'm not alone in the cleaning down after completing a model
Thirdly, not thought about what to have a bash at next. Its definitely going to be Armour. I have a Trumpeter 1/35 T55 in post from www.emodels.co.uk, so may wait till that arrives, if its all its supposed to be, I'll have a go at that.

My cave seems to be ever evolving since its completion I have now got a anycubic photon resin 3D printer in there with a small curing box along side it I do have plans to have more than one printer but with the world imploding that's on hold for a bit but this is what it's looking like right now (probably change again in the next 6 months) but it all works for me how I had it in my head lol


I will say that since the world shut down (nearly) I'm glad I've got somewhere like this to go talk to my mates have a laugh do some modelling listen to a lot of music because if I didn't I probably would have gone more mad that what I think I am now, I hope all of you out there stay safe and get some modelling done

This weekend I completely re-organized the model space. Mostly, because I wanted to be able to use the new Pace Peacekeeper spray booth. I had to move a bunch of stuff around.





The bench has been cleaned up since then. New cutting mats are on order.

If anyone is interested here are the contents of the display cabinet (which is in need of a good dusting).
