Hobbycraft UK appear to be going solely to selling Humbrol

Post by NoelSmith »

Went to my local Hobbycraft at Biggleswade recently to top up on some Tamiya clear.
Only brand on display was Humbrol. As for Tamiya and Revell finishing products. All Gone !
Is this happening across all UK Hobbycraft Stores ?
Maybe some sort of Humbrol exclusivity deal on their part.perhaps?
Can anybody confirm if this is happening throughout all Hobbycraft stores ?
If this is the case, their corporate mentality values a deal rather than modeller's interests.
'Just stick some Humbrol on the shelf. They will just have to buy that'. Not me Hobbycraft!

That's weird, here it's the Humbrol that's disappearing from shops and I can understand why.
I've never had any luck with their products that I have bought, but to be fair maybe I just didn't learn how.

We had a new branch open up in Leicester a couple of years ago. Kit and supplies range was hugely disappointing and a real step down from the Hobbycraft store an hour away in Nottingham that I had visited previously.

I have not gone back since.
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

I genuinely can't remember the last time I went into a Hobbycraft - ten years ago maybe? I'm quite lucky in that I have two good Local Model Shops in a 15min drive radius but I have to admit I buy most of my modelling stuff online these days - from the likes of Jadlam or Hannants.

Gotta love Hannants. Great site.

I get their weekly new releases emails late on a Saturday night. They go very well with my Sunday morning coffee.

Now see I need to do that, although I'm not sure my wallet will thank me.

I have a running joke with one of the guys on the forum on that very subject. I've lost count of how many times I've described my wallet escaping and running off over the distant hills. :D
