A couple of WIPs

Post by Portman »

Hi All,

Apologies for the late stage of these builds, but I wanted to share some work with you guys, but I've not started anything new since I joined the forum. I was going to wait until I did but naaa, I'll post these up as they're taking ages anyway! :wall:

I've got these two on the go at the moment.

The Chieftain I started back in March 2025 and it's been off and on the bench ever since. I'm trying to get it finished now so I can clear it and start something new.

It's pretty much OOB except some milliputt work on the barrel and I'm currently replacing the hand holds on the bazooka plates. This is it's current state - this is my first stab at airbrushing a model.

I'm doing the grab handles now...

My new drill and sander have been a great help with this, although I did have to buy a 8mm shafted pin vice adaptor so it could hold my 0.3mm drill bits.

The nice little Italeri Crusader I started on Christmas day just gone, where I built the lower hull. Over the past few weeks I've been building it up on the kitchen table - it's a fun kit I have to say. I've replaced the barrel as the kit one was a bit droopy (obviously it had had a few too many beers) and I'll probably replace the grab handles on the engine deck with wire, along with the radio antenna.

I also have a couple of others on the go, but I'll leave those for now.

Thanks Digger! :cheers2:

I got the wheels assembled on the Crusader last night, and got everything primed today - so hopefully some paint soon.

More progress - sort of.

I've had a stab at replacing the grab handles on the chieftain. Not the best work in the world, but I learnt a lot and the next kit I do this on it'll be better. I've started lobbing some paint at them.

I've also been continuing on with the Crusader. The wheels have been built and I've replaced the engine deck cover handles with wire. I've also removed the moulded on antenna and will replace them with wire.

I've started lobbing some paint on this too - as I want to get the wheels and tracks and lower hull painted before I fit the side panels.
