scratchbuilding and scale measurements

Post by HAVOC »

If I take measurements from a 1/24 scale model, can I double them to scratch build a part for a 1/12 scale model?
In 1/12 scale, 1" is equal to 1', correct?

Yes, that's correct.
Do you have a smartphone? There's a "scale calculator" app that I downloaded; it's how I checked to see if your conversion was correct.
Or if you don't have a smartphone, you can look for a scale calculator online for free.

Happy modeling!

It's called, "Model Scale Calculator" and it's published by Thako.

There's actually quite a few out there; this one just appealed to me the most.
Glad I could be of help!
Just out of curiosity, what project is this for?

I searched on the app store and can't find it :(

This will be for my 1/12 scale pro-stock Camaro that I plan on building. I will only work on it when I need to take a break from my other builds.
I've seen many nice parts at TDR Innovations including a 1/12 scale pro mod chassis that I might buy:

If I scratch build my own chassis there are still some parts from TDR that I would like to get. I can't seem to find 1/12 scale rear slicks however :?

Try 'imodelkit' app. It has a scale converter and paint conversion charts. Very good. Paul did a vid about it on YouTube.
