Keith Miller 169 sqn RAAF. Help needed.

Post by Willem »

Hi folks.

A cry of help to the great brains trust that is ISM.

I'm looking to combine two favourite subjects of mine in a future build: Cricket and the De Havilland Mosquito.

Keith Miller was a great Aussie cricketing all-rounder and a hero figure both in Aussie and over here in the UK.
He also flew the Moquito mk VI during the final months of the war in Europe.

He was once asked about the pressure of top sporting performance by the great Michael Parkinson (no mean cricketer himself and an army intelligence officer during national service in the 50s).

"Pressure? Pressure is a Messerschmitt up your arse at twenty thousand feet".

So, you see, I have to build a representation of his Mossie Mk VI at some point. I know that he flew with 169 sqn but only on a few ops in March to April 45. Incidentally, he once diverted his aircraft over Bonn on the way home from a flight because he wanted to see the birthplace of Beethoven from the air (another hero of mine).

From the digging I've done I've managed to find the following images. Apparently, Miller often flew DZ478 VI@B.

One looks like an NFII and one looks like an NFXXX. And so now I'm a bit stumped (pun intended, sorry).
Does anyone have any info or suggestions for leads?
Any help gratefully received.

Hi Willem,

found this on the Australian War Memorial website.

The second url is for RAAF Millers, scroll down to Keith Ross Miller and it'll bring up his service record.
