Hanomag 251 Tamiya 1/35 scale Conversion

Post by hansolo »

Hi Guys,

Mr. converter, AGAIN!

This time I thought I’d give the old Hanomag 251 (that I built a long time ago) an overhaul.

Image

A while back I repainted the model and stuck it in the microwave to dry!!!
That’s all good, aslong as you don’t have soft rubber parts on it! Which I did…
The tracks melted. :-(

So I bought some new tracks and thought “Why not take the pimp a step further?”
I didn’t like the small machine-gun on top. I had a howitzer gun left over from the
Panzer III build. So I started cutting away at my Hanomag and did some scratch
building to add some armor plating.

I also took out the badly detailed benches and scratch-built some wooden benches to replace them.

I stuck the howitzer in and voilà. A new model was born.

For the paint job I chose the camo stripes, that I seldom choose. The turned out ok.
But if I had to do it again I’d make ‘m smaller.

For the rolled up cover I used Milliput again, great stuff.

And here’s the result:
