This'll be different and interesting to watch....I haven't seen anyone build anything of this nature, yet....especially a "Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force" version. :thumb1:

Added the PE to the seats and cockpit area

Assembled the fuselage
Image
And assembled the basic wings
Image
Pretty simple assembly so far (except the PE seat belts)

This is cool! I used to be an electrician on the P3-C and EP-3E in the US Navy so I will be watching this with great interest.

Happy modelling!

She looks pretty big on that bench, even though she's only 1/72 scale...looking forward to the next stage now :) :thumb1: :thumb1:

NAS Jacksonville has those planes flying around all the time and in my younger days I constantly confused them with B-17's. I know its a stretch but from far away they look similar enough. lol

You had a rapid fire start on this and I'd forgotten all about this build, but now you're back! Hope to see you complete her soon :) :thumb1:

I'm planning to make the Canadian version of one of these in the near future. How did you like the kit for fit and detail, etc.?

The kit went together very well, no real issues there
Detail is a bit scarce in the cockpit, I had a PE kit but you can't see much anyway, there is nothing in the main cabin.
The model has raised panel lines which is a little disappointing and the undercarriage bays have very little detail
The overall shape is good but the prop blades are a bit thin
I'm doing the Japanise version as on the box lid on page 1

Thanks Graham. Yours is looking great, but my shop is asking C$65 for it which I think is a bit much.

More on the Orion
Painted the nose, window frames, added wing decals
Image
Big very thin decals from Hasegawa could only go one way, badly
Plenty of micro sol and careful placing and I think I've sorted most of the damage
That's it for tonight

Coming along nicely! The cockpit details were really well done. Be sure we get a shot through the windscreen and see it when it is all done!
