LaGG-3 1,5,11 Serie - 1/72 Roden

Post by elscorpio »

Hello fellow modellers,

The begining of another Red Star WWII Classic

It´s going to be a real struggle...the model has some nice interior details, but a lot of flash, and by trying to dry fit...i m going to spend a lot of time sanding putty...

Cockpit phase for now...

The swering is on, full force now...

This is a "violent" kit for the nervous system...:mental: nothing fits in this model....

I had to held the cockpit with tape, because there is no support on the sides...the wings doesn t match...
The gaps beetween pieces are just crazy...
The kit has so nice details in some parts, but its a nigtmare on others...

"Lord of putty and sanding, give me strength..."

I m going to be a zen master after this model!

Holy mother of modeling! That looks like a nightmare kit with all the flash and gaps and different sized wings etc??!! If you pull this one off, then bravo to you sir!

I will keep my eye on this thread to see how you turn this around. :thumb1:

Cheers, :cheers2:

Oh My Word ..... :jd: don't tell me that kit is actually for sale?????

Looks like it was rejected by Airfix for having too many fit issues :)

Hope this turns out ok mate, and will be watching with interest :th:

A lot of sanding and putty after...this is the best i could do...far from briliant...

After prime, i did some pre shade atempt (not very efective by paintbrush...), and give it 2 coats of tamyia flatt white. I used the little aircans from tamyia for the white...it would be very complicatend (if not impossible) by brush.

This is how it looks now...

This kit is torture...and i guess is beyond my current modeling abilities...but its going to be finished, the best i can.

Its waiting for "future", decals and weathering...

Great work on the cockpit and internals. The fit issues look to be a complete nightmare and it speaks volumes for your patience, persistence and skill to get it this far. (I would have thrown it at the wall).

Best of luck with the finishing stages.

Finally it is done...after really a long fight i managed to finish the model. It s a very hard kit but it was a lot of fun ( some times frustration :wall: , and need to use all the zen meditation to not trow it to the wall...) and i learned alot.

I call it a draw...its far from briliant, but i think its acceptable, and i m not embaressed to look at it !

Holy crap! I thought the Revell kit I'm building was a bad fit bad it's great compared to this!

Nice job, I admire your determination in getting it finished.
Some days it's not even worth chewing through the restraints!
