B-25C "Dirty Dora", 345th Bomb Group,Nadzab, New Guinea,1944

Post by pmarshall »

1/48th scale Accurate Minatures kit OOB, using the supplied masks and decals to do "Dora". "Dirty Dora" was apparently named after a woman met on leave by the pilot who had a 'colourful' sense of language. The woman in question did get to see the aircraft after the scheme was applied, and was singly unimpressed.

Painted with Gunze Acrylic for the Olive Drab / Neutral Grey, weathered with Mig Oils, True Details acrylic resins and pastels.

Fun kit - only closing the fuselage and the dorsal turret causing any real problems

Looks great. I like the leading edge chipping, really nicely done.

Silly question, but is it meant to have big hole in the rear of the fuselage?

Yes - on "Dora" they removed the rear guns, and put them in the side windows where they could more easily shoot at the ships as they flew past.

So no glass or guns in the rear section

Excellent build! :th:
Must comment especially about the chipping, perfect!
(Chipping effects are not so hard, but realistic chipping is really hard to achieve)
Props, Engines and chipped cowling looks very realistic and scale.
Also wing leading edges.
Great work mate, Beautiful bird!
