Revell SMS Dresden & SMS EMDEN WW1 German Cruisers 1:350

Post by Dragon64 »

Hi everybody was in town today and seen this. Thought it would be a bit different for the SiG. Absoulute bargain as well.

Image

A quick look at what you get in the box.

Image

So onto the sprues. There are two ships in this box, but will only be building one for the SiG. There are six per ship and are nearly identical a only couple of parts a difference.

Sprue 1 Main Hull

No flash as far as i can see, there are a couple of dents in the lower end near the join, might need to fill these. Detail is quite good. Will try and get a bit closer once i start to built it. Its in four parts why i don't know maybe it will become clearer when i go through the instructions. Measures 33cm

Image

Sprue 2 Deck

Single piece deck. Lower part of deck has wood affect but not upper deck. Chain is pretty poor at the bow of the ship but don't know if you can buy chain that small. Again no flash.

Image

Sprues 3,4,5

Put these in the one picture so as not to take up too much space. Again no flash, has railings and the arms for the lifeboats, masts pretty straight, Main cabin and stacks also part of the hull

Image

Sprue 6

Last sprue contains the guns,Life boats. Detail quite good, But i have noticed there are sink marks in the lifeboats. Will be hard to remove or fill.

Image

Conclusions.
Plastic hull feels a bit fragile but overall a nice kit and i get two for the price of one. Parts are small for 1:350 thought they would be bigger but they are cruisers so maybe that's why. Looking forward to building this. A couple of parts loose in the bag (Hull) always annoying.

Thanks for looking

My mom passed away this year 6 days before my birthday.

She had given some money to my wife to get a kit for me, I got this one.

Will be watching with great interest sir. :th:

If I knew you got two ships in a box I would have jumped on it. Looking forward to it!
