Italeri M60 Magach 6b

Post by Hillbilly »

Ok guys, this will be my first ever military build.I had started a Monogram f-82G but long story short I was replacing the bolt carrier group in my AR-15 and I dropped the upper receiver on the poor F-82 and the receiver won (No more gunsmithing in the model workshop  ) Anyway,I looked to my small military stash and after watching some of Coen's excellent tank build vids decided to have a go at Italeri's M60 Magach 6B.

Image

I started on the lower hull as per the instructions and found some nice cast texture.........with a mold seam running through it :wall: Oh well, nothing some power tools can't fix :D I first sanded the offending seam with a sanding stick and then chucked a grinding bit into my trusty Dremel tool to replace the lost cast texture by lightly tapping the bit on the hull where I sanded the seam off.Time consuming work that probably wont be seen, but it makes the OCD side of me happy

After cleaning up the lower hull everything else was just straightforward flash clean up and assembly.Being my first armor kit I don't have a reference to how easy these things are supposed to be to build but assembly of the lower hull went pretty quick,so quick in fact i forgot to take any pics till the hull was done

Now that the lower hull is done it's time to start on the upper hull and turret. If anyone has any tips or tricks PLEASE let me know. Thanks for looking :cheers2:

Looks like it's going to be a great build. I like the detailing of the rear vents.

Yeah dropping gun parts on a model ain't gonna end well!

Looking good so far, should be a nice build.

Excellent start, mate :th:

Nice tip on using the dremmel for replacing the cast texture. Guaranteed I'll have forgotten that when I need to use it.
