Painting accessories for figures

Hi,

I am an armor builder and don't do figures very often, and have just recently began adding the tank figures to my builds.

The tank figures don't have any accessories like weapons, gas mask canisters etc.

With that said, I have begun building the Tamiya 1:35 Russian Assault Troops that will ride on T-34 as well as a set of Panzer Grenadiers for my Pz IV.

With tanks, I put all the tools, cables, kit any thing else on the tank, prime, paint and weather, the entire model and individual pieces while attached to the tank. I do not paint them individually and then glue onto the finished tank.

My question to you figure builders; how do you do it with figures?

Should I glue on all the kit to the troops and paint the pieces while attached?

Or paint all the kit individually and then try attaching? Or some hybrid solution?

Its really what works best for you.....experiment with some spare figures and see which way u perfer.....as for me i assemble the figure with all the equipment on them then prime and paint....starting with the flesh first hands and face and then do uniform and equipment. Hope that helps have fun

I put them together with all equipment (most glues will either destroy the paint or dry visible). This also makes it easy to fill any gaps (normally in the shoulders) from fitting the hand-held gear.

Then I spray on the primer and spray on the paint for hat/helmet, shirt/jacket and pants. Faces, hands, weapons, equipment and boots I paint with a hair brush.

I put the body together unless theirs an arm in the way of painting the uniform, depends on the scale if your doing 1/35 just put it all together and paint. I always paint the head separate though. Good luck
