Panzer IV Ausf E Super Kit 6264

Hey guys, So a bunch of the youtube guys bought the Vorpanzer super kit on ebay.de a little while ago, and it really got me looking at the two I had. I got VERY lucky on ebay myself back in March and got 6264 and 6265 for dirt cheap together in a lot sale. For those that don't know 6264 was the initial tooling of these famous "super kits". It's an Ausf E 3 in 1 that can make an initial, late up armored, and DAK version of the IV E. I have decided to build 6264 in between the Dangerous Cat's SiG and Tiger SiG in January. I will be making the DAK version and I have no idea what I'm in for. Not sure how many updates I'll post, but I like to show things as they go along.

So far I've chosen the DAK parts, which means the add-on armored hull tub, as it comes with one with, and one without. The suspension bogies are something like 12 parts each with the wheels. I do plan to leave the separate rubber parts off until paint though. So two days in and I'm still on step one.

It's worth noting that this version did not have the insane drive sprocket sprue.


So that's what I'm working on. Nice to be able to build something again.

It's not a bad kit, just fiddly especially the tracks. There are some errors, but all fairly minor.

Yeah Paul, it seems fiddly, but honestly the building is the most relaxing part for me, and this doesn't require the amount of hack and slash as the Jagdpanther did. So on my days off I can basically sand things for stress relief.

Oh you got the one with the figure.. Was looking into that as well... I then read that this kit had some flaws that were rectified in the Vorpanzer

Hendrik I Wouldn't bother with this one if you already have the Vorpanzer. If you look on the PMMS site there is a comparison of all of the parts from the two kits showing the inaccuracies of this one. They are minor, but the Vorpanzer would be more accurate. I'm building it as it's the "easier" of the two Panzer IV super kits in the stash. Just want to see if I can handle it.

The errors don't concern me as they're minor. I looked at them all to make sure. I do plan to get the Vorpanzer and other Super kits later on, but this is only my second Dragon kit. Is that pic yours? it looks about like I want to aim for, maybe mine will be a little more Gelbraun than Dunkelgelb though. I want it to go with my Tiger 131 build.

Yes that's mine from about a year ago. First go with AK 'Worn Effects' which helps with the chipping.

Holy cow I had some HUGE problems with this thing tonight. Apparently I didn't get the bogies glued together quite right, so they didn't fit in the area they were supposed to. So then the armored guards for the suspension didn't fit either....so the bogie mountings on the bottom are crooked, and the armor for them (strips between) had to be sanded down to fit...It's driving me crazy that I messed something up on it. It looks ok, and since it's on the bottom it'll probably be fine, but I'm annoyed with myself. Suppose this may not have been a good second Dragon kit to do.

That's a smoking hot kit dude. Its also a handful to build... As you've discovered.
Hopefully the rest twill be fine for you. I'll be looking forward to seeing how it goes for you. I've wanted this kit for a long time now. I'll enjoy watching you build her.

Looks an a amazing kit as coen said..and you've done an oustanding job

Here's a pic of the area. The bogies have 2 main pieces that attach to the hull, one flat on bottom and one to the lower hull side. These are glued together first, but had I dry fitted the assembly to the tank while it was gluing I could have made sure of a proper fit. Since I didn't I ended up with days cured glued parts that were slightly off, although they looked right to me when I glued them.

Because of this the armor had to have it ends sanded off, which lost the rivet detail. My plan is to get some rivets, maybe from the secondary hull that came in the kit, and replace them.



If we call the stations 1-4 from left to right. You can see that station 2 is fitting correctly, while the others are not.
