Sd.Kfz.234/4 Panzerspähwagen

Apologies if this post in the wrong section - still finding my way about.

I'm currently building the Sd.Kfz 234/4 and am about ready to paint the interior. My question is, what colour should it be? I've done a fair bit of research on the old interweb, but haven't really found anything conclusive.

I've seen a couple of pictures where the interior seems to a lightened hull-red colour, but I've read comments from other people that some of these were painted the standard off-white interior.

I'm pretty new to all of this and any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

The SdKfz234 4 was an open topped AFV and the interior would have been painted the same colour as the base camo paint that was on the outside, unless it's winter whitewash.
All closed topped German AFVs were an off white with a very slight green tinge or red oxide primer. Toward the end of WWII all of the closed topped AFVs were red oxide except for the odd one or two.
So your SdKfz234 4 would most likely be dark grey (dunkelgrau) or yellow (dunkelgelb) or one of the varients that they created.
At least that's according to all the research that I've done.

Thanks Coen, that is a massive help.

I have already jumped in a sprayed a base-coat of hull red and and I was umming and ahhhing about the dark grey, but you have just made my mind up.

Base of hull red is fine Alex. A lot of German AFVs were primed with red oxide so it's an accurate choice I'd say.

You can also use google images for pictoral research. You'd be surprised about how much stuff is there. I almost entirely use it for most of my research. Saves money, too!

Thanks for the advice, had a quick look and after a bit of scrolling through I did find a couple of pics where you could just glimpse the interior.

Methinks a bit of artistic license might be called for!!
