AMT Fiat Topolino A/altered

I have been in kind of a slump when it comes to my auto modelling.I think it is because of trying to do too much detailing and scratch building,in turn dragging the builds on too long.So I pulled one of the classic AMT double dragster kits out of my stash.For those that don't know this kit It was first released in 1961 I believe and has two complete dragsters and a ton of different build options.As cool as the kit is it has a couple drawbacks,namely it is flashy as hell as you would expect from 53 year old molds and it is not the most detail kit around but that is what makes it ideal as a slump-buster build.This will be a box-stock build except for spark plug wiring.Enough waffling here are some pics.

Needless to say the instructions are rather "primitive"



Oh,and did I mention there is a little flash




Almost every chrome piece has horrible mold seams.I haven't decided if I will paint them a natural metal color or Alclad chrome them.



I have got the roll cage attached to the chassis and have started the dry-fitting stage now.

Funny you mention slumps if you stay on something too long.

That must be why I like the quick Tamiya builds, if I am on a kit for more then a week I am getting sick of it.

I like the look of this! Those old AMT kit might not be the best kits in term of detail and mold quality. But they are a lot of fun to build and can be turned in to some nice models.

This kind of gave me some inspiration for a shelf of doom build I have. Will have to dig through the parts boxes after some gasser parts.
