Return of the Mudhen - Revell F-15E

So I used to play a lot of simulations and one of my favorite, and one I spent many hours in was Jane's F15 so the Strike Eagle has a special place in my heart. Weird because I never really got into the F-15C (I was a Tomcat guy)

I picked this kit up 2nd had a while back but it was unopened. I was looking for a new project to start on with my Airfix BAe Hawk almost complete, and this one kinda chose itself.


One of the main reasons I chose this was because it has a reputation as a great kit. Another very important reason is that it looks like it needs a fair bit of work to get it ready, something I can learn a lot from. See all the flash

And more clean up needed. To be honest a lot of the other spues with smaller parts are fine


Another learning opportunity is the seem line on the canopy


Finally, it's an opportunity to learn some skills with Alclad metal paints. There's a lot of learning to be had in this kit, a lot of things I can try to improve on. I'll get started this weekend hopefully and work at it slowly. Feels great to be back with the "Pig"

Good luck Kane - really interested in this kit, Ive got my Academy F-15C on the go but lost some mojo at the moment. The Revell kit is supposed to be the best out there for the F-15E!

Cheers Chris. I have the Academy F-15C MSIP as well. I may use some of the extra weapons in that kit for this build since it doesn't come with any bombs itself.

You have the right frame of mind starting out here...learning from the kit and not expecting it to just pop together no problem
Follow it through and document the build for us and we will all learn something from it

Yeah I thought so - the Academy kit has heaps of spares, in fact, I wanted to build it with a full 8 missile loadout and worked out how to do it (the instructions only say use 4 - but theres like 12 missiles in the kit and all the -E add ons as well)

I might restart it today...

I have 4 copies of this kit now and I built one 10 years ago for five total. It's a great kit IMO. I don't recall any real problems when I built mine back then and the details are just superb.
