Deleted Posts?

Post by historyofthereich »

Are post that have been put up in the wrong section just deleted? only I was starting to think I was losing my mind when I first joined I.S.M I would put up a post (granted most probably in the wrong section as I was new & hadn't found my way around yet) then come back on in the morning, click on "Your Posts" & Nothing! I'd find my self questioning my sanity wondering if I really did right that whole thing out the night before or just dreamt it!:

Only after a couple of occasions were the same thing kept happening, did I come to the conclusion that they must be being deleted by Admin for being in the wrong section!
But I found NO mention of it being deleted, no message from ISM telling me I'd made a blooper & posted in the wrong section. And no one had been kind enough to move the post in to the correct section for me! It just vanished of the face of the Digital Earth never to be seen again! :(
And poor old me had to sit down and write the whole thing out again from start to finish.

So ISM How about instead of just deleting miss posted posts! you move them to the correct posting page instead & drop the poster a short message notifying him/her were it's been moved to!

It's commonly done in many other forums inc The Warhammer forum which looks incredibly similar to this Model forum.

Just an Idea!

Dude

I have never known of a post being deleted, and have posted many times in the wrong section, I don't think any of the Admins are Drill Sergeants busting your balls. I have been on Forums where the Admins are Nazis and just delta crap, but have never sen it here and don't think the atmosphere would tolerate it.

More likely you are insane or dreamt it all any ways....lol.

But really there are only a few sections to post in any ways, most likely Model Chat unless you have a specific question about Paint or such, but does it really matter, it is all about models, or music in some people cases, the hardest to figure out is the build threads in the Group Builds.

Funny I was I was going to ask Lee or Paul how the hell I delete or hide my threads, because when I go to my posts I have a crap load and it takes a while to find my GB thread.

I would say just relax Reichsführer all is well in ISM

No offense meant just tugging your schnitzel.

But I'm glad to here that there's no worries of posts getting deleted. Thanks for your reply's :thumb2:

I can say that your posts haven't been deleted by the admins. I have only seen a couple of threads that have been deleted for either being abusive, racist or obvious spam/forum hijack attempts.

http://intscalemodeller.com/viewtopic.p ... AM+add+ons

http://intscalemodeller.com/viewtopic.p ... cessories. - This was moved to the Buy & Sell section

http://intscalemodeller.com/viewtopic.p ... ing+a+clue

and http://intscalemodeller.com/viewtopic.p ... +Axis+film was moved to "members Youtube channels"

Hope this helps :th:

It looks to be more of a nevigation problem than anything else. I've found all of your posts.
I know for a fact that none of the admins or mods delete posts that have been miss-posted. They move them to the more appropriate section.
All of your posts still exist bud.

What is strange is that when you click your original hyperlink it doesn't take you to the new location.
Normally it does... At least it did in the past.
If not that's a forum structure issue and beyond the admins control.

Hi historyofthereich.
I assume you mean "I click on the 'View your posts' link and I don't see my posts".
I notice the link address for this is http://intscalemodeller.com/search.php? ... =egosearch
Which implies to me a special index per user is created which stores your thread links, so it can quickly return them to you. I'm guessing that when the threads are moved, and therefore the links change, that index doesn't update and the original thread links disappear from it. To rebuild that index go to one of your 'found' threads and post in it.
I don't know if the same thing would have happened if you had moved your own thread, I'm guessing it would. I seem to guess a lot....
Cheers

That's a shame that would of been a handy little tool!

I've just spent the afternoon on some of the Axis forums i use (as I'm trying to get some info on these dog tags I bought the other day) & would you believe it the a site admin deleted one of my posts straight of the bat lol & i know he def did because he messaged me to let me know, which was at least nice of him! :jd:

If any one on here knows anything about German WWII Dog Tags or Field No.s ect I'd appreciate some help : You all seem a whole lot nicer on here than some of the Axis history forums!
