1/72 Academy Typhoon.

Post by benc123 »

Got this one finished last week. Lovely little kit that fell together. Unusually for academy the decals were okay!
I didn't use the invasion stripes as i wanted to have a go at painting them myself. Any comments etc welcome.

Looks great! I love the weathering. You can't go wrong with invasion stripes and I love the typhoon, so its all thumbs up from me!

amazing job! the painting and weathering is perfect. what did you use for the chipping effect?

I've been looking for a 1/72 Typhoon kit to purchase and I've been debating between this one at the airfix. The goal is to build it wheels-up. Got any recommendations for me? can you build this kit with the wheels-up?

Thanks guys. :-)

Mikey I used two shades of silver/aluminium and a really fine paint brush. First time trying it and worked really well.

This can be built wheels up, the landing gear doors fit very well. (That's how I painted the invasion stripes). The thing is there is a location tab/gap in the wheel wells that the doors don't cover so it might look odd.

I think the airfix kit would be the better option, it's newer and knowing airfix, can probably be built wheels up with no issues. Hope that helps.
