Single Kit/Aircraft GB Similar to Challenger II GB

Post by tachikoma »

I really like the Challenger II GB in that everyone is building the same tank and the same kit. I think it would be very fun to take part in one of these. And you can let someone build the kit ahead of you and run into the problems and you can avoid them.

I think it would be neat to do one of these with an aircraft kit, specifically one that was in service with many countries. And if not a single kit, perhaps a single type of plane. One idea that comes to mind is the F-16.

Comments? Suggestions? Other plane recommendations?

Updates:
I would like the time frame of this GB to be next summer, but it's up to you guys ultimately.

Post your plane ideas here. I'll hold a poll after a couple weeks to see which idea is the most popular.

My favorite idea so far is the MiG-21 since there are/were so many operators and the Eduard kits allow you to build most, if not all with some conversion, of them. Allowing other MiG-21 kits could be a possibility. (Not sure how accurate this list is. I'm surprised to see so many countries still operating MiG-21s.)

I'd join in with this, although I've just built an F-16!! I'd prefer something else but would still come along if it's f-16. What about mig-21? I'm sure there'll be lots more better suggestions....

MiG-21 would be a great aircraft to do. Probably used by nearly 100 countries and the Eduard kits provide lots of options. A Cold War era jet would probably give the most operators. F-86, F-104, MiG-15, MiG-21, etc.

The P-40 was only used by allied and lend lease aircraft to my knowledge, barring any experimental testing by a country. While doable for a GB, I'd personally like to do an aircraft that was used by dozens of different countries. Though, I don't have any interest in building an airliner.

Yeah, that's what made me think of the mig-21, lots of operators. I like the mig 15 idea too, I bet there's lots of Russian designs that were used by multiple countries.

Anyway, your decision, and I share your feelings about doing airliners!! Lol :pistols:

I missed over that, though, the time frame for that is horrible for me. Next two semesters for me are pain and suffering. I'd be interested in a time frame some time next summer for this GB, but it's up to you guys ultimately.

I'll hold a poll in a couple of weeks after we get some more plane suggestions. The MiG-21 idea does seem tasty, though.

Probably not till next summer. Unless you'd want to squeeze it in this summer.
