That's a mighty big AFV you have there. Sounds like it is coming along rather well. I enjoyed seeing you use the dot filter technique. I myself am still trying to master it. When done correctly, The effects are amazing. Nice job so far. Will be looking out to see how she develops.

Ok I'm back from holidays ... for short while

This time there'll be no photo update as I made almost no progress till returned.
I'm now working on scratches and hopefully will finish scratching hull.

About the movie - Russians are lucky to have lots of WWII stuff - still operational. Funny thing because it looks like the ISU had no battery power and needed some auxiliary...

Russ, I have seen that video before. Fair enough you don't know how long its been in the park for, might only have been 10 years, but if its been there rusting since the park was built then that is impressive that just with some tools and a bit of a boost they got it running.

Hello Fellow Modellers,

I've finally returned from holidays
Good thing is that I still have one week off to rest after them and make some progress with my builds.

So hold the hats boys for next update to my ISU-152.

I've finished those fancy chippings and added few other (heavily dilluted with water) acrylic washes. Added also few rust streaks.
I think I have slightly overdone chippings on upper hull (near the hatches) and sides of front hull. Chipping there looks bit unnatural.

Maybe I will blend the effects later by adding some mud pigments. I still want to make some streaks and wet effects.
But first I need to fit suspension and tracks. Probably I'll focus on them tomorrow.

Oh, ISU 122, I wonder how the hull of this kit is in comparison to Tamiya's one...

I want to build one of those SU-85s - these are one of two of my favourite vehicles in WoT (although StuG is the best one ).

Howd-ee folks

Unfortunately I had delay due to family reasons... My uncle had a heart attack recently and needs to have by-passes surgery done (I think it's called CABG or something like that) and I also had to help my sis with my newborn nephew who wasn't doing well, so I was not in the mood nor could I focus on continuing works.
Good news are, that operation will be done shortly and although it's difficult we have good feelings about that and my nephew has recovered (as with children - if the youngling cries and you don't know what it is, it's definitely the "sh*tty thing" ).

So to relax my nerves, I stayed late this night and made some good progres.

One more thing before update, as always - first things first (or second) :

Here comes the last but one update. I have managed to finish suspension (wheels & tracks) and added remaining details.
Few words about paints, stuff (better live through chemistry ) and techniques used on tracks.

I have decided to go for some mixture of regular painting and drybrushing or maybe drytapping would be better
Used chemicals (picture, it's faster than typing them all sorry for laziness ):

Thing missing on this pic are:
Lifecolor UA703 Light Rust Shadow;
VPA 310 Old Wood
VPA 311 New Wood

I've als used Microsol Kristal Klear to fit lamp's glass

The procedure I used for tracks was as follows:
1) priming with Vallejo Black Primer;
2) painting with brush (but it was rather closer to drybryshing) with VMA 71073 MM Gunmetal;
3) painting with brush (very quick vertical/horizontal strokes) with Lifecolor UA701 (Dark Rust Shadow);
4) dry-tapping*) with LC UA702 (Rust Shadow) - on spare tracks in front of vehicle I also slightly drytapped LC UA703;
Rest was done only on running tracks:
5) drybrushing with VMA 71065 Steel.
*) this drytapping thing was simply sort of drybrushing with old, used brush with stiff hair - removed all paint and was simply tapping tracks keeping brush perpendicularly to surface.

In case of wheels - I have painted the running area (that touched tracks surface with VMA71073 and drybrushed with VMA71065, VMC 70822 German Camo Black Brown followed by this brown wash shown on picture above.

In case of tools I used wood paints from VPA (I'm not pleased with result though) and MM Gunmetal drybrushed with Steel and then washed with dark rust wash from Vallejo.

Enough talking, now pictures







Ok. If I was to use figurative expression I would say I can already see Brandenburg Gate in Berlin . The last things I have do to with model are some delicate streaks, little pigmenting and maybe some water effects to seal all weathering together. I hope to finish all stuff by end of this week.

I'm thinking of some small diorama and adding crew to the my beastslayer, but that will probably come later...

Coen, Couldnt have put it better, I think the poor Infantry would just hope that they are too small to for the monster to bother with, I'd safely say the cloths line would be full after a face to steel encounter

I consider the building finished, although again... I think I have spoiled it a little bit with too much water effects...
So here comes the last update.

Update #7

I have decided to make the model look like just after the short spring's storm. I have in mind some base for it for the future of soldiers resting in the outskirts of Berlin somewhere in mid May 1945. War is over and the refreshing short, but intense rain has just washed the last dusts of war... well, but I won't have enough time to build the base / diorama, so I need to publish only the ISU-152 model as my contribution to WWII GB.

But up to the update.
I have used following chemicals to get last finishes:



I've started with dusting and then made some water streaks with MIG followed by AK product. This is where things didn't go exactly as I wanted them to be, so:

A little bit of warning
AK 079 Wet effects fluid is very thick and sticky, so be very, very careful when using it. It is almost impossible to remove any mistake if u make one (don't try to to it with cotton buds / q-tips - they stick very easily to the wet surface and leave awful, hard to remove marks).

Ok. So the model is done and it looks, pretty much ok to me, but I'm still learning, so there were some things I did ok, some others I screwed.
Please let me know what you think about my work. Any feedback / suggestions are welcome.

I haven't any experience with any of the products that you've used Radzy, so my advise wouldn't be very helpful.
She certainly looks like she's been in the rain and your idea of a diorama to show a crew at rest would really set that off because you could add a lot of puddles and some mud to give the wet effects that you've applied to the tank a good context. So my advise would be to see to the diorama for her when time permits.
Other than that she looks great dude.
She was a challenging build.
Those are always the best ones in my opinion.

I wouldn't worry about your photo booth Dude... mine is a bunch of pillow cases.

Hi,
This AK thingy is very unforgiving and looks very oily if you put too thick layer. So as I said - it requires patience... and even more practice as I did before applying on my model.

Coen, I have already started looking for some diorama kits (Mini Art) has some good ones. If I find anything suitable quickly I can actually finish it by 7/09 .

Please advise if I can still continue this build even if I claimed my ISU as finished and revealed it in respective GB thread.
