Airfix 1/72nd P-51D

Post by SyntaxModels »

Hi Guys, this is just a model that has been sitting on my shelf for quite some time imcomplete due to school work, but now school is out for most Aussies (well, next week is the actual end for Victorian students but that is non-mandatory activity week at my school) so I don't have to worry about school work so this got finished this morning!

The Airfix North American P-51D! Precisely! Now this is the Red Tails kit so it only comes with decals for the Red Tails Squadron (or the Tuskegee Airmen, depending on your take of it). I started off doing this scheme but then the painting the red highlights just started to piss me off because the red colour wasn't right and it was a pain. Soooooo after that I decided to just do the upper surfaces in olive drab (Tamiya XF-62) and leave the underside in bare metal finish. I used some of the decals provided in the kit (Stars and Bars, a few stencils and some of the yellow highlights) but other than that, not much. So here you go, I hope you enjoy!

A nicely detailed cockpit is included in the kit.

And now here are some shots of the underside...

And now here are just some other photos of the model.

Hope you enjoyed! It was a fun and easy to build model, as it should be for $6.99 AUD  .

:cheers2:

Numerous models? No no no! I only have one model left on the shelf and that's almost done! When you call us slackers you gotta remember we started this term (last term of the year) in early October so yeah :) . I'm also going to be gone for most of the school holidays, 2000kms from my bench :eeek: . Well at least I'll be at my dad's house so I can keep modelling, great to have a father who encourages modelling ;) .
