Lee's Dragon 1/35 Tiger I - Late Production (6406)

I'll be the first then. I know it's very early, but wanted to get this up before christmas started

As promised on the news show I'm going to enter this SiG and complete it if it kills me...lol

This is what I'm entering.....




I also have the ATAK zimmerit for it. I picked the Dragon kit up for a stupidly cheap £25 so, could afford to get the add on zim for it. It also came with a brass antennae and some extra etch covers...




Never attempted anything armour on this scale before especially with over 600 pieces! Little bit daunting, but really want to have a crack at it and do it justice. Was going to review it, but I understand it's OOP now so, won't bother

Great choice Lee, just red the "Tigerfibel" once more to get the right feeling for the GB

It seems like a nice kit from what i have heared
I never build one but i have several dragon tigers and those where nice kits
The tracks are not bad altough some say the ds tracks are less then ideal
But with some ca glue they will look just as good then after market tracks imo
Good luck building this German heavy weight

How does the zimmerit work, Lee? Is it the 'adhesive panel' stuff? Wondering if would fit my AFV Club late tiger?

It is very thin resin Chief
It is pretty easy to use but has to be glued with ca
I have used it a number of times now and you can do chipped pieces aswell , wich are almost inpossible with pe zimmerit
but you should check their site maybe there is a set for the AFV kit

That's an awesome kit there Lee, I very nearly chose that one for this build myself.
I've built it before and it was a really sweet build. It's not as bad as you think.
I'm interested to see that zimmerit work. I have a couple of those sets in the stash now.
Should be a very interesting build.

I got this kit myself. It does look stunning mate. The resin zim works well but it a bugger to stay on the turret.

This is my first Dragon kit and bloody hell! What a lot of small pieces...lol Really enjoying the building side, it's my favourite part of modelling.

Only boo boo so far was my mistake, started gluing greebles on the rear then suddenly remembered I had zim to fit.... big DOH moment...lol. Still managed to get it all off with only very minor damage.

It's actually quite thin mate, very delicate. And yes, I know about the strip - lol

Whew! I was worried that I was too late.
I always hate mentioning things like that during someone's build. I always worry that they've gone too far ahead and I didn't mention it in time.
So usually I shut me yap haha.

A little more progress yesterday...

Finished the arse end....




Then put together this little MG. Jeez how fiddly was that, it's bloody tiny...!?!

I've built so many of those litte MGs it's crazy. It must me two hundred of those things by now.
Looks cool though.

Well, managed to spend a little time on this the last couple of days, plus bits and pieces over the last month. I still haven't decided what I'm going to do weathering or dio wise yet, I'll wait until everything's ready then have a look online for some inspiration.

The resin zim was a bit of a PITA, but it went down well and looks kinda cool. The main problem is fitting the kit parts on top of the zim where it's quite thick. A lot of CA and swearing where used...lol

I did quite a bit of pre shading and some post shading to give a bleached look. It doesn't seem to have come out too well on the pics, but I think it looks cool

This is where I'm up to now......






The wheels are on and the rims done with a graphite pencil




I started the Friul tracks last night, but my one and only 0.5 drill bit snapped so, I've had to order a load off ebay. Hopefully they'll get here in the next 10 days!
