Interesting ! The Chinese ones can be fine if you are looking to just find out if airbrushing is for you, but even there I'd suggest starting with something like a Neo (still an Iwata, but their entry level airbrush).

The thing is, you really do get what you paid for with airbrushes. The $15 Chinese ones can be very variable in build quality - you might get a good one, or you might get a "Friday Special". To make things more complex, the needles seem to be made of plasticine and other parts of unobtanium. When we were thinking of stocking them, I spoke to an importer about parts. The response was that they could get needles & nozzles, but for other parts, they suggested we buy airbrushes in batches of 10 and kept two of each back to break for any parts people might need....

Yep, that is correct.
I have tried several china-made airbrushes, as well as several high-end guns, and I must say, that you cannot go wrong buying expensive brush. However, you can go and get satisfaction from a cheapo, like in this case.
And in the end..Iwata costs $200-250 and even more. Depending on the market.
Chinese ABs costs $15-20 delivered. So...you cannot get 5-6 or 10 wrong cheapos.
Not that you can get bad Iwata or H&S though.
