Taking photo's using your phone!!!

Post by historyofthereich »

OK I don't know if this is something that is already common knowledge & it's probably worth mentioning this is more for people like me who don't have an expensive high tech phone with a great camera on it if you do then you most probably already have a better lens on your phone than most cameras have!

But for those like me who find them selves suddenly with out a camera and no way of getting one but do have at least a working camera on there cheap Nokia phone or what ever, this might come in handy. I discovered after my old Camera packed in & my new one was already wrapped up under the tree :D that I needed to take some close up shots of the lettering of a WWI EK II (German Iron cross) after a little head scratching I took one of my standard modelling Magnify glasses (the type with the handles) and held it in front of my phones camera & noticed that it took a much clearer picture straight away before I even tried zooming in or anything so I took the stronger Mag lens out of one of my modelling clamps the ones with the two clips on arms and a magnify glass, & taped the stronger glass to the front of the other magnify with the Handle and held them both in front of my Phones lens while taking a picture & found that it gave me a crystal clear almost HD picture of the smallest detail on this EK II

It was like taking a picture on a £200 camera on a £10 phone :thumb1:

Maybe this will be no use to any one but me but I thought I'd share any way :D

Nice! The most simplest of solutions tend to be the most (cost) effective.

This is a great idea! As a phone camera user myself anything to improve the quality is great. How do you have your lighting set up btw? I know that magnifying glasses and light can be tricky.

There are also lens kits on amazon ranging from $5-$20. They come with various type/magnification. I may pick one up one day and try them out!

I have a 50w GU10 Bulbs over my work bench so it illuminates the whole area but I will say if you have any of that white plastic card like Evergreen or Plaststruct, use that behind what ever your photographing. it makes a huge difference to your pictures.

I have got my Canon Camera back at last so I'm back to using that, but the phone worked great for me while I didn't have the camera. :thumb2:

:cheers2:
