Zvezda 1/144 IL-62M

Post by Ads24 »

Something a bit different for me, a civil aviation model bought on the back of wanting a bit of a change and the fact Zvezda's 1/144 Airbus A320 and this IL-62M are supposed to be great kits.

Having built it, I definitely concur with this - the kit goes together really nicely and is a quick build resulting in a good sized model. The decals are interesting on this one, as far as I can tell they're printed by Zvezda themselves and the first thing you notice on picking them up is the really poor quality backing paper - a worrying start. Thankfully, however, they go down absolutely brilliantly. They're thin but tough and can stand some manoeuvring and they conform perfectly with Micro Set and Sol. The printing isn't the finest, but they do the job. I'm keen to follow this build with the A320, so would probably get some alternative decals for this, especially as there are so many aftermarket ones readily available.

Anyway, enough waffling, here's the finished model...

Great work! :thumb2: :thumb2: Love to see something different. :) We don't see a lot of airliners in here.

Cheers, mate. It definitely was something a bit different, and strange too, as being a small scale and an airliner, most of the standard weathering techniques etc. I would use on a 1/48 fighter, for example, go out the window.
