Ism videos

I would like to do a few videos that may be of help to new (and maybe experienced) modellers is there anything you would like to see/be shown how to do, I'm not an expert by any means but if I can help I will.

So far we have airbrush equipment, paints, fillers etc. I was going to do a series covering a model being built, not following the actual build itself as such but covering the techniques along the way.

Would anyone find this of use?

Yeah Id find it very useful as alot of videos on you tube just are not up to much.

yeah sounds great thought of doing something similar in the past but never really got round to it ... I always got carried away building so it never happened

hope to do something similar for the GB though

From what I have seen from your vids Paul, you seem pro to me

What I would like to see is some basic techniques, maybe the tools you use and recomend as well as glues, filler, sanding maybe. Im happy and greatfull for what ever vids you put up. It all helps me understand abit more than I already know. Cheers Paul.

Yeah I think I'll incorporate that into the build video like I said above, the problem is which model do I build to show these techniques?

Any armour techniques I can show while building the king tiger for the group build, need a plane to do that's simple and quick

Right ok then

I've been out today and bought this.

I will video build it, but not for the model itself but the techniques along the way

So I'm thinking 10 15-20 min videos and I'll cover

1 Cockpits, airbrushing and hand painting
2 Cockpit weathering
3 Fuselages, glueing, filling, sanding.
4 Wing sections, gluing and filling.
5 Rescribing and masking canopies
6 Airbush Priming and preshading
7 Masking Camo patterns (splinter in this case) ill also cover other techniques.
8 Airbrushing including cleaning techniques
9 Clear coats, including gloss and Matt
10 Decaling
11 Finishing touches, antenna wires, weathering etc

I'll add more to this list as I go

How does the sound ?

That sounds mega useful Paul.

Def think it would be useful to cover weathering on the Armour build. Something I still struggle with.

Sounds like a plan Paul. Maybe an oob build from start to finish covering potential problems , materials used and recommended tools. Maybe take it further and do painting and weathering as well. You would make an old soldier very happy

I'm just curious as to the status of the ISM Video reorganization if I can call it that?

My main interest is I now have a bf109 that I want to apply ISM modelling techniques to. I had hoped to continue on with Paul's part 2.

Any news on when this might be up and running?

Paul has had to send me all his files on a USB stick, which should arrive Monday. I will then start editing them and posting them up. So, it 'should' be up Wednesday timish

Theres been a slight delay as getting large files to lee is proving a pita, there's no quick free way to send a 2.5gb file other than by post and USB stick.

Part 4 being filmed today which has added another part to the series of now 11 videos once ive done this one ill get them off to lee.

Part 4 Wing sections, glueing and filling.

We tried Dropbox, one vid got through fine a 1gb file took about 2.5 hours to upload.
I'm on Virgin media and my 3mbps upload I guess isn't great as the 2.5 GB file I tried to send the other day even after uploading for 6hours was still showing between 10 hours and 26 days (yes days) to upload.

(3Mbs 60 = 180 MB/min x 60 = 1.08 GB pr hour)

I subscribe to wireless broadband = amazing speed, but towards the end of the first month the speed was down to a crawl …. Turns out I am on a quota of 20GB/month. Could that possibly explain the inconsistencies you are experiencing; something similar?

My understanding is that ‘storage in the Cloud’ is supposed to work/perform much better than has been your experience?

Yeah number 3 sent fine took about 3 hours in total to send via drop box just need lee to upload it and remove from the Dropbox folder (3gb limit) and then I can send him part 4 which I filmed and edited yesterday.
