Hasegawa 1 72 Jagdpanzer IV build

Post by WirbelwindModelling »

Well hello there, time for my first ever ISM build thread despite being a well established forum lurker for nearly a year. I decided it was about time that I stopped browsing the forum and sitting in the shadows and get a build going.

I am going to try to keep this to short and sharp updates of progress as to not get to dragged down. Anyway on with the build...

... So the kit is Hasegawas 1 72 Jagdpanzer IV L/70

Image

Normally i would not recommend a 1 72 scale Hasegawa military vehicle kit there usually horrible softly detailed messes with good awful rubber tracks (i mean you thought Tamiya vinyls were bad wait until you see these) however this kit is a beauty and highly regarded by us in the Braille Scale community.

Here's a short review of the kit for you (Not made by me but i don't want to over crowd the thread):

By the way "On the way" is the best site on the web for 1 72 scale reviews, articles and galleries

This build will be part of an on going project of mine that can be summarized in this video of mine
(If you like what you see, drop a sneaky sub as some builds that will come later may be YouTube exclusive ;) )

So some more detail about the build:
You have probably noticed I have attached the road wheels already, on a 1 35 tank i would not recommend this but at 1 72 scale the wheels are so small that trying to pain them individually would be a boring task, therefore i just like to attach them and paint the rubber as part of the detail painting process.

However i have not yet attached the sprocket, this is because the tracks are so awful (see below). Because of the poor quality i will not be using them and waiting until i can afford (small budget) a after-market set. The sprocket wheel is made for these rubber tracks and as such the teeth are to close together for correct scale tracks, therefore i will be fiddling about with the size once i get the tracks.

Here are the pics of the tracks i have bigged up so much, i hope they lived up to your expectations :P

Good start mate - keep it up :th: . Good luck, I look forward to more :cheers2:
P.S. Regarding Hasegawa Set - I preffer personally Dragon or Revell - if they have a particular (interesting to me) vehicle - better kit's quality.

Thanks mate,

So the build is finished!!

Nice detail, it's just a shame about the tracks which will need replacing.

Looking good! What are your thoughts on the camo? Is there sideskirts in the kit? Awful tracks of death!! Good luck and happy modelling!
