Dragon 1/48 TA-152

Post by Jmart95 »

Here's the Dragon TA-152 I built last year, and talk about a PITA. This was the limited edition Willi Reschke version, I bought it at a hobby shop that was going out of business for only a couple dollars, but it had been sitting in the sun on their shelf and was terribly warped when I opened it up(to the point that I thought about just taking the engine, pe and decals fro the kit and trashing it). I managed to straighten it out pretty well, though the wings still have a slight twist to them. By the end of the build I lost my patience with the kit, so there are a few glaring mistakes in the paint that I just never got around to fixing(and I also found out that 2 part swastikas aren't for me  ) , but overall it could have been worse I guess, and it's one less kit in the stash and one more on display. The kit itself though was very nice(I'd highly recommend it), with a fantastic engine(which I wired up and painted only to have it hideen out of site, but like we all say, "I know it's there") and the overall detail you can expect from a dragon kit(the kit was originally released by trimaster apparently). I ended up using custom mixes of tamiya acrylics(thinned with lacquer thinner) for the paint, and fishing line for the antenna(which on the original TA sagged when the canopy was open). And now that I look at the pics, I forgot to paint the tailwheel!
