modelmakingguru sent me from Pennsylvania United States

Post by RunsWithBeard »

Hi everyone,

Just getting back into modeling after about a 16 year hiatus. I mostly did military aircraft, and some automobile. The son of a prolific military aircraft modeler, I got out of the hobby when I moved out and focused on academics, career and family building. Also the endless supplies of FREE modeling stuff that my dad provided for me were no longer at my disposal. By the way, this crap is expensive.:

Anyway, I was a late comer to the 2004 Battlestar Galactica tv series, which created in me such an obsession for anything BSG that it somehow jump started my long lost interest in modeling. Needless to say my current and first project is the Moebius Viper MkII. I found modelmakingguru's youtube series documenting his MkII build and found it very informative, and since have become a subscriber. I'm trying to relearn and remember the tips and tricks my dad taught me and at the same time get into things he never did, such as weathering and dioramas and stuff. I don't intend to do as much military aircraft as I once did. (I'm not as interested in the subject matter as I was when I was a kid) I might get around to doing some WWII aircraft because those are still way cool. I think it will be mostly Sci Fi kits for a while. Also I'm meshing it with another hobby of mine, electronics. So, interactive lighting, maybe some sounds, and the occasional electrical spinny thing is my intention whenever possible. That means hacking, lots and lots of hacking apart perfectly good kits. Something that, so far, has proven to be both challenging and thrilling for me.

Looking forward to learning and being inspired by others. Cheers!
