SO as the tiger is nearly finished i thought i would start another armour piece.

Ive never built a panzer Iv before and as I've loads of them in the stash i thought it about time.

Looks to be a nice kit well specced with pe, metal schurzen and magic tracks

Progress tonight on the running gear and front rear plates

Lol, i little jump in progress as in its all built and ready for primer. Ive even today assembled and burnished the friul tracks and test fitted those along with the schurzen armour plates. The plates need to have some damage added to them then its ready for primer

That looks a great kit Paul. You've done a lovely job of the build so far. Cracking paint work to.
Since my compressor decided to land on my panzer iv when I moved away I've wanted to build another. Note to myself to buy another.

Yeah you need to do another mate.

Panzer 4 is is all detailed painted, clear coated, decals applied and pin washed too

The ausf j was the same as the h except it was made simpler to manufacture e.g. removed some of the pistol ports. Later Js also feature mesh 'thoma' schurzen and modified exhausts.

So the pzr iv was given a filter (homemade from 502 oils), i gave it three coats and let it dry overnight

It was given oil dot fading, which has really toned down the paintwork

Then tonight i added some rust streaks, i may make them smaller tomorrow, will have a look in the morning

So the Panzer iv is all done. Friul tracks and some subtle weathering complete it. I may put it on a dio base at some point so will add more weathering as and when needed smile emoticon I may Alter the spare track rust at some point too

Paul....Firstly, are you serious? 16 days from start to finish

It takes me that long to decide what colour I'm going to paint something lol
That's one realistic looking finish there, I love the weathering and chipping!

Just a quick question about the filter, how did you apply this? Can those 502 oils be sprayed through an airbrush? Or did you just brush it on?

Jeepers creepers Paul, with the arrival of your son I thought the modelling would take a bit of a back seat, but your churning them out like billy-o!!

Love this one, we don't see enough Panzer IV's and I especially love the camo on yours - you always seem to get the colours just spot on. Another round of applause for that man!!

Thanks for the kind comments buddy.

The 502 oils are thinned with mineral spirits and then lightly brushed on in coats (and allowed to dry each coat) until your happy with how it looks

Cheers alex, really happy with this one myself, it'll be even better once i decide what I'm doing with it, it'll be added with another vehicle to a dio ill then finish the weathering properly then.

As for time, i get less free time through the day now as i spend that time (if I'm not working, which is only a couple hours a day lol) with the family, of a night hanna watches tv and usually falls asleep as does james so i get loads of time in the cave to myself, hence all the hangout and modelling i do

Jeeze bud! You're getting as bad as I am at blowing through a build in a month.
The difference is yours look awesome! That's a gorgeous piece Paul. You put that on a small vignette with a figure or two and you have a prize winner there.
