Hasegawa 1/48 F-104J Starfighter

Here's a little kit I've been fooling around with for about a week. It's a Hasegawa 1/48 F-104J Starfighter. It's a relative cheap kit. I found it on Amazon for about 1700yen. For a quick modelling fix it's worth it. That being said, it's not my best work.

It goes together pretty well. But, the glass came with a scratch. I buffed it out as best I could. But, come on Hasegawa, separate your Sprues in different bags. How hard can it be? Also, the decals are the Tamiya variety. I will say though that these seem to be thinner than the Tamiya stuff. But, they are not the most fun to work with either.

Anyway, my only other complaint would be that the seam on the bottom of the fuse towards the back is a little tedious because of all the tiny rivets in the surface detail. Also, The rear wheels are a nice concept. But, both of the one piece tires cracked when I glued the hubs to them. They went together fine. But I think the cement weakened the tire just enough to crack it as it dried. So a resin upgrade would be better here I think. The cockpit is nicely detailed. But you can't see much of it with the canopy glued shut.

Other than that, its painted with Mr. Metal Chrome Silver and other various Mr. Hobby and Tamiya paints. Hope you enjoy the photos. I have a 1/48 Tamiya FW-190 up next. It will be my first attempt at mottling with an airbrush. I don't know if I will start it this week because I have a busy work week ahead though.

Cracking job mate, and that Mr. Metal Chrome Silver looks really good. Great weathering work, too!
