131 going north!

Post by kozzybear »

Hey guys! For this GB i will be building the Tamiya 1/35 early version Tiger 1
Image

I will be turning it into Tiger 131 that was originally sent to Africa and then captured by the British, but for my dio i will be taking it out of Africa and into the battle of the bulge. I plan on going all out on this one purely because i love Tigers, i mean just look at it!

Didn't they capture Tiger 131 in Normandy
Atleast that is the "Bovington" Tiger isn't it
In the making of vid from Fury the curator says that it was 1 of the first german tanks to be captured there
Anyway good luck with the build

Should be an interesting build.
I've used this kit a couple of times so I know that it builds well as a base for many tigers of that variant.

It's a very solid kit. Goes together well, and requires very little modification. One thing I did was add Dragon smoke launchers on the turret as there is a notch cut in the real ones which the Tamiya kit lacks. You could always just carve it out. Here's a few pictures of my 131 under construction. If you're interested in recreating it's particulars. The bracket where the spare tracks hang in the front was scratch built out of extra PE, and the grab handle on the front plate was just an old grab handle.

To me those are the most "131" things about that tank. No idea what either is there for as I've never seen them on another Tiger.

When ever I have to deal with those fabric feifels Kosta, I take a tiny bit of CA glue on my finger and try to mould those frayed ends down a bit, over time they can go all fuzzy if I don't.
