Well I am getting a bit of a late start but I am hoping I can catch up in time for the reveal. I have had a dickens of a time trying to figure out what to put together for this build. I am still learning so much and many of you have already got GREAT builds going already I just don't know what to do that would be different and interesting for the build.

SOOOoooo I decided I am going to try something I have no experience with and that is a completely knocked out and burned up Tiger I. I hope to make this look as real as possible and want to try and recreate the blackend/blued metal and recreate some authentic damage that would of caused such carnage.

I was going to do the Dragon 9142 kit and it seems like a great kit to build, but I did not want to put this kit through the process I am going to try and ruin all that fine styrene.

So without further ado here is the kit I am going to start working with.

Forgot to take a pic of the decals, they are really yellow and for what I am gonna be doing don't think they will work. Now to find time to start building, and reading how to actually do the techniques I want to try for the type of tank damage I wanna reproduce.

So I have barely even begun and already have ran into my first issue. The center wheels which guide the track are two of two piece construction. Which makes sense. However the gap once put together is too small/slim to fit the tongue/guide from the track. I am hoping someone else has maybe built this kit or has had similar issues with another and might have advice.





My first thoughts are I have two options.

1. I shave with a scalpel or sand with a stick the outer rim down on both pieces. I can't just place them flat on a large piece of sanding paper because the center nipple is necessary for fitment. This would have to be done on both sides so that is 16 pieces i have to sand.

2. I insert a 1mm or so piece of round styrene or something in the hole which would cause a larger separation when the two parts are mated. This would only require me to do so on one side which is less pieces to fiddle with, but I do not have any round tubing that size to jam in the hole. Guess I could make a hobby run tomorrow.

I believe the center roadwheel rides between the two track guides of the track, so there should not be a track guide between the gaps of the double roadwheel. Hope that explanation helps.... although the steel wheel version might be different from the early version roadwheels. This will have to be confirmed by one of the Tiger experts. Looking forward to what you have planned here!
