Tamiya M-36 Jackson, fitting problems

To all,

I bought a Tamiya M-36 Jackson, 1/35th scale (item # 89553-2000) and the upper hull and the lower hull do not fit. I think if I cut the inside fenders back that it may fit, but I am not quite sure what to do. I searched the internet and found that "Cookie" Sewell (?) wrote an article in Fine Scale Model Magazine on how to fix the problems with this model, but the author of that article did not list which issue. So, I searched for that article and could not find it.

Any help would be appreciated.
