Fujimi IJN Akagi Egg carrier

Post by rodrant »

Hi ,

this will be my entry , aI assume that this is a valid entry , has planes , but it isn't a plane it is a carrier ...even I will build it just for the fun to participate along with all the builds here , and hope that I can finish it on time

The Akagi Egg Carrier ....

Image

Some shots of the Box and bagged sprues

Image

Hull ...funny it brings two bottoms , one red and other grey ...

Image

Planes , we have Zeros's , Kate's and Val's Egg and what tinny they are , ohhhh this will be fun to do !

Image

Image

Some experience already for my I-400 build will be usefull here , almost the same size than the ones of the 1/700 scale sub ...

Image

Instructions ....does anybody knows Japanese : ?

Image

Colored ones , good idea

Image

Decals ( it has decals ) and stickers depicting the flight deck ,still I,m thinking in painting it instead of using these ...will be nice

Image

Well that's it for now , I'm hopping to start this this weekend, will be mostly an OOB build and I'm thinking of placing it in some water (Vallejo water ...) ...I'm having some lack of mojo on my Rising Sun Build of the Betty (Ishiriko) bomber ...I'm stuck there and with no will to finish it

:cheers2:

Thank you all ! It is my first Egg Plane/Ship/ experiment , decide to participate for the fun and it is a lot of fun build this litte kits ...

Well first update , honestly is my yesterday and today work ...

This are the instructions , and in the end should become something like this ...

Image

All in Japanese , wich is great because I do not know a word in Japonese ...

Image

Fisrst steps ...the Egghull

Image

EggDEck and Eggpropelers

Image

Nice little row boat , ...

Image

Painted the small boats with Tamia Wooden Deck XF -78 , the grey is Tamiya XF-76 IJN Grey (Kure Arsenal) , and XF-9 Hull Red for the bottom Hull

Here already the Steam exaust is placed

Image

Decided to paint the Eggdeck , and not use the sticker ...actually , if a kid/adult wants to build this he can build this OOB and no need to paint as all is in colored plastic more or less if not painted will be almost the same as painted so...

Image

not a very nice paint job , but ...

EggDeck fitted . Until this step all fit quite well , some Eggflash here and there but easy to remove

Image

Place the Egggun turrets and Eggcranes ...

Image

And the EggCommand tower

Image

Placed all , some hard to fit all , but all went ok , and the mighty EggGuns ...three each side ...I wonder if they really use Egg Shells as ammo

Image

The tower must fit on deck and the flag mast

Image

Image

Image

Lights on :-)

Image

Mighty Japanese EggCarrier !

Image

Image

Image

Now must go for the tiny Egg Planes , decals on the carrier , and start working on the base , have some Eggcelent idea for doing the base related with Easter , let's see if I can make it !

Thank you for watchng , Fun build and very good to distract me for a while this weekend !

:cheers2:

Thank you !

Isn't it odd , when you have something in ypur mind you just go to the workbench and must finish it , that is what happened to me ,

While I wait for the clear coat to dry ...

Image

Notices the small propellers , yes I almost forgot to place them ....

Image

Time to start on the diorama idea ...

An -island and the boat ...used a small base of wood ...

Some modelling clay for making my idea

Image

And this was my idea , placing the boat near the Easter Island with a Moai looking at the boat , and a strange Big Egg laying in the Island...well it is Easter and we are talking about Eggs , right ?

Image

The 'strange' scene ...suppose that the Japs consider it an EggStrategic Island for launching EggStrikes to all Americas ...

Image

Image

Can't wait to dry so already painted using Enamels , not acrylics ...

Image

A look at the EggPlanes :

Image

EggKates :

Image

With Omelete Torpedoes

Image

EggVal's

Image

Those are fit with an Egg Bomb , terrible stuff ...

Image

EggZero's , colesterol free ...

Image

Long Range deposit

Image

in order to put the 'Sea' used the spare Hull , put some Tamiya masking tape so that to fix it o the base

Image

Will use this stuff in order to create the Sea and the white foam ...actually for this type of builds is good , suppose that never try it in other builds as the color is not too real ...

Image

And here it is the base with the sea ...I'm very happy with the result ,

Image

Now that is all for today , now to let it dry , will go and do the decals and then to prepare the planes ... Still I'm thinking to put some flying aroud ...

Thank you all for watching Guys , see ya !

SO last update before the final reveal ....

So we have the option to build it using a sticker

Image

or decals , my option...

Image

Little planes painted and ready to go on deck ...

Image

On deck , already with decals ...

Image

Will be using this clear sprue part to finish the diorama , by putting some Eggzeros on the air ...

So it is time to show you the final reveal :
