Been dying to build one of these for ages! I'll post sprue pics etc once it starts.

Cool looking kit....that silver and orange scheme that the Navy used is really striking with the orange. Enjoy the build!

Hi fellas, first bunch of pics. Showing what's in the box...



Standard trumpeter destructions, nicely laid out in an a4 book.



3 British, and 1 German marking options.

Clear parts



All looks very nice, no sign of flash, fine but sharp panel lines and crisp moulding. Clear parts are very clean, a little distortion, but that's expected from the canopy shape.

Let's hope it goes together as good as it looks in the box!

Here's a pic of XG888 flying, this will be the airframe I'll be building.

wahoo Chiefy old boy lush. The Gannett is one ugly old bird but strangely alluring, I've been wanting to build one for ages. Classic Airframes have just re-released their 1:48 kit but its massive money (£50ish)....
I will be watching defo

I don't know what it is, but it really like it. And when you see it up close, you realise it's HUGE!!! I'd love to see you do one in 1/48, that would be awesome, but £50 is a lot of dosh!

That's true! Especially in this case, a rebox! How come Revell can re-release their 1/32 hunter for £25 and Airfix can repop the 1/48 lightning for the same kind of price, yet others charge £50/60? They must be bloody good kits, cos the two I've mentioned are great!

Anyway........ Rant over! Lol! There's a gannet at the Yorkshire air museum as well, so I might pop in over the Easter break and take some ref pics

Looks a cracking kit mate. Saw one last year at Newark air museum to say its massive is an understatement never realize just how huge it is.

Hi guys, finally getting round to doing an update! I'm sure I say this every time, but I've had it with 1/72 kits! I just don't get the enjoyment out of them I used to.

Oh well, here we go.

Started with the cockpit and observer compartment. Hard to see here, but I added some spare decals to liven it up. Pointless, I know!




I cut out the observers windows, as they were filled on the kit.



Next up I removed the rudder, more for ease of painting than anything else!




Once the fuselage was together, I filled the gaps with plasticard.



Added some lead shot inside the engine to try and keep the nose down.



A little centre of gravity test showed it to be too little! So added more to the nose wheel bay.



Main assy done, little bit of filler needed.



All primed up



Silver on, masked up, and trainer red added.



Decals on, Matt coat, and started to dirty it up!



Once I got the u/c on I found that it still needed more nose weight, so ended up filling the whole wheel bay with shot!



Guess what? Still not enough!!! Couldn't find any way of getting more into the plane itself so.....
Old spitfire spinner and mig 23 bomb to the rescue!



Filled the front end with more lead, added a couple of hangers, hey presto, a fictitious AN/ALQ type gizmo!



Just need to find the right position to have the desired effect!

And here's the finished article!


Looks rubbish, but there ya go, it's done!
Unfortunately I'll be posting more pics in the reveal section!
