P-51 D-10-NA Tamiya 1/32 «Ol Flak Joe»

While waiting will to end the Hellcat, remains only on the landing gear, I decided to continue with a model in 1/32 scale stopped for a long time. My showcase had almost no room for more models and stopped with 1/32 scale.

It is a model of Tamiya in 1/32 scale. The P-51 D-10In.



I intend to make a version of "Ol Flak Joe." with the aid of decals sheet EagleCals.





Following the instructions glued and painted the engine.

The dry brush was made with graphite taken from a HB pencil and then ground.

I use the post-shading. Once you have painted Interior Green applied lights and shadows. For lights I used a part of IG, 0.5 yellow. For the shadows I used black. The two colors with 80% diluent. I applied after one wash and dry brush with Tamiya XF-04.

This was all I had done. After the model back to the bench finished the wells of the landing gear.







I painted and applied the wear on some parts of the air ducts and radiators.

I did not like the additional deposits painting. This time first painted glossy black, then aluminum.





Machine guns. Painted black and then a kind of dry brush with graphite.



Flaps and ailerons.





Once'll let the engine covers open the air duct missing.





A few more pieces aluminum.







And for now it is all.

It is in fact amazing in terms of fit. After three sets mounted in separate air ducts underneath the radiator and the engine and it fits without fail. Cockpit, engine and rear air ducts and air ducts under the engine nothing was pasted. However fittings without fail.

And finally the fuselage, glued.












I started the wear on the propeller.

The wear of the propeller was done with Tamiya XF-63 very dilute. I applied first at the leading edge of the blades and then some perpendicular lines also on the blades. Finally dry brush with the X-11 Tamiya (very dry brush).

I applied after the chipping also with x-11 but did not like. I'm painting the blades again.

Engine compartment and engine all set.

I returned to paint the propeller black. The chipping was not as wanted. Based on this picture, I know it's not the Ol Flak Joe but it's the same squadron, I wear on the propeller hub.

man, that is good looking paint!

for all that micro preshading, what's your setup? ab, needle, pressure?

i struggle constantly trying to find that sweet spot with super thin paint but no spidering.

I do not use pre-shading but the post-shading.

I use 1.5 to 2 bars in compressor and paint with a harder & Steenbeck evolution and the needle 2 m/m.

I use paint for shading with about 80% of thinner.

I finished the propeller.
