I have a question, are you planning to paint the base yellow colour on the vehicles then chip them back? Personally I would have base painted them in a Panzer Grey, then overpainted with the sand colour, and chipped back through that to the grey. You probably know, but the vehicles were sent to the desert in Panzer Grey until later on in 1942 when they started coming out the factory in their Dunkelgelb. Up until this time the tanks were just roughly painted with whatever light sand colour was available, and due to shortages, the paint was often mixed with fuel, mud, sand etc. to make it go further. This meant that it wore off the vehicles pretty easily.

If your doing vehicles post factory painted Dunkelgelb, ignore me, but they look like earlier model Pz.IIIs so chances are they were grey overpainted with the sand.

Great work so far, Hendrik! I like the details on the tanks and the overall layout of the dio. Those resin buildings will look awesome, too.
I'm currently reading "Die Wüstenfüchse" by Paul Carell (also matches with the current temperatures in Germany), so I find this build even more exciting. Have you read the book? If not, you should.

This is becoming a really great piece, next time you enter a competition you might win something with this scenery i love the wear and tear effects on the paintwork, especially on the roof of the PIII without the sandbags.
