Coen's Chicken Walker.

I've been waiting to start this thing since it arrived about a month ago now.
But I've been holding off for two reasons... one I wanted to buddy build it with Paul... and two, I wanted to wait until the SIG started this month.
Well... I couldn't wait until Paul got his from Ebay... So I just built it.
I have a second one that I want to take more time and try and play with the articulation of the legs a bit and that one I will be buddy building with Paul when we both have the time to do it.

This thing to a grand total of 45 minutes to build.
My daughter and I spent the early morning hours building her entry into the SIG and I started this right afterwards.
To say that I was a bit disappointed with the build is an understatement. I was hoping for a bit more complexity and for it to take a little longer.
It just clicks together and requires almost no glue. Just a few tiny pieces needed a touch of TET to hold them. The rest fit like a glove.
That being said, the fit and the ease of build is superb. Better than Tamiya any day, and priced so everyone can buy and build one.
Genius!!!

The plan is to have this one and the second one together on a diorama of Tatooine chasing a pair of Wookies across the desert. (only because I have the wookies. Why waste a good Wookie I say )

The torso





Legs... A bit obvious I know...



Clicked together with the neck added. The detail is freaking superb on this thing.





The head was a bit tricky to build, mostly because I was trying to see if I could get it apart later to paint...





And built with Wookie ... The Wookie figure isn't too bad but the two Imperial Drivers are really crappy figures.
I won't be gluing mine in place as I'm hoping that one day in the future someone will do resin ones or something.



















That's it for now... It's built. And no masking tape!!!!!

Next is the paint.
I'll be waiting until Paul gets his chicken walker and I can start the second one before I get some paint on them.
I have my falcon to keep me busy until then.

Paul and I both started out walkers today, as expected, very fast builds.
Not as fast at the first one, but just as enjoyable.
Again a supreme kit to be sure.

About three hours work this time. Near the same for Paul I think.
I will mock up the dio next then start the painting.

Non-stop work today it seems.
Both walkers are built and now the dio base is built and ready for paint. I've also primed the walkers.
As part of the scene I scratchy kinda built from spare parts a weapon that the wookies are planning to use against the walkers.

Firstly... The Wookie weapon thingy









Then I primed the walkers and painted the cockpits.








Next I'll paint the interior a bit more as well as the figure, then I'll prime the dio and start on that.

It's nearly done now
Im thinking of adding some vegetation.


Das on wood with a side of rocks and sand, coated in a lovely bath of watered down PVA.




Pour apre, a dusting of Vallejo air hemp and light earth, then some dark earth. Followed by a brushing of sand coloured pigments ala crushed pastel chalks.





Then some hairspray to hold it all together.







The ATSTs also got a base coat of dunklegelb.
Later I'll fade and hilight the panels then do the detail painting.

Some chipping, dot filter, and rust streaks added. Then the oil and grease stains.
Finally everything is installed on the diorama and pigments are added to blend them in.
Then ... Done
