1:48 Eduard MiG-21MFN - On Hold

Post by Alkosh »

On hold until I can replace the cockpit with a resin one.

I will be building Eduard's MiG-21MFN in Czech markings for the 45th anniversary of Caslav AFB.

I'll be using the Eduard interior PE for it, Eduard masks, and Master Model pitot tube.

I started by epoxying some lead weights into the nose and mixing up the cockpit color. My camera is turning everything blue so just imagine it looks more green.

I didn't like the color on the Eduard PE so I decided not to match it and instead paint over it. There is quite a bit of variety in the MiG-21 cockpit color so I based my mix on pictures of an actual MiG-21MFN cockpit. I mixed Tamiya X-14, X-28, and a few drops of X-16 to make the base color (as seen on the left side of the sprue.) I then faded it by adding XF-2 (as seen on the right side of the sprue.)

Here's how it looks next to the PE, though the faded is on the left side this time.
