King Tiger Porsche

Post by burnie43 »

Hi all
I thought that after all my moaning and whinging about photo etch I had best post a few pics of the cause of said mumbles,,,,this King Tiger build was inspired by Coen's Kurt Knispel youtube build.......yes Coen it's all your fault!! :eeek: :eeek: I normally like to just add turned barrels and some mesh grills to my builds but this time I have pushed the envelope after viewing a lot of builds on here...I have used Eduard etch and Tamiya Zimmerit so far
DSCF4778 (640x480).jpg
starting to enjoy the build now
DSCF4770 (640x480).jpgDSCF4776 (640x480).jpg
thanks for looking

I really like Halfords red primer ( quite realistic as German armour was mostly in red primer)

and so far....
DSCF4782 (640x480).jpg
The etch issues were caused by me using picture hanging wire in place of the tow cables, it was toooo heavy ( after that I am enjoying now)

The chaos of my work....thats just how I roll

I did wee bit on the base as well today but I'll leave that till my next post

Looks like a proper Tiger II to me :)
I like that primer colour too. If you decide to use the hairspray method or something similar on a future build that base would go nicely.

I downloaded and watched all 6 of the kurt knispel tank build vids all at once, im Konigs Tiger drunk, and it was hilarious that you sprayed the tank in the wrong camo at first, great job though mate!

It's the first time that I have used the Tamiya Zimmerit and I thought that it was good, dead easy.... after putting it on I got the hairdryer out ( only ever used for modelling!!) which warmed up the adhesive and made it slightly more pliable.......no problems at all and it's half the price of Atak Zimmerit and easier to get.....

The Halfords Primer Range are very good, I use the White for Figures and black for Tanks.
Awesome job.

Looks very nice burnie
If i may give one tip about the primer
The red primer you used looks good so i got nothing on that but the barrels where voated in a heat resistant primer this was a dark grwy and just a little lighter then the german hrey that serves as a camo color
Just in case you want some chipping on the barrel
Looking forward to seeing some more
Cheers Mark

Appreciate the comments Mark, yeah I knew about the barrels being primed in gray but this primer is all going to be hidden once im done, in fact the cam net is to hide the muzzle error that I made.......excitement got the better of me.

Thanks John...lol, no I'm not a tailor but I am very pleased so far although the King Tiger is no longer a kurt knispel one as I felt that I was getting all confused and uptight and I didn't want to steal Coen's ideas ( well not all of them!!) trying to get it spot on so i just went with the flow....

I could do a wee guide if there was anyone interested I guess, that would mean that I would have to think about what I did.....I'm generally in the habit of just doing but the jacket was quite straightforward I think!!

That is some fantastic work there sir! I love the jacket laying on the front. Gives the idea he got tired of waiting and took it off. Is the map done with the same stuff? That makes the scene for me. Them looking over the map up on the tank. Not hiding inside looking at it. I love the work you have done with this. Kind of makes me want to change my mind on my next build, but I cant. I've already decided what I am doing.
