1/35 diorama Bloody Omaha

Post by gerry7944 »

This is a 1/35 diorama and my tribute to the men of the Aamerican 29th Division who went ashore at Omaha beach on D Day.

it is the biggest diorama I have ever built and has over 80 figures in it.

The base is made from a poster board and the water is made using acrylic resin, dye and tin foil.

The beach is made from PVA glue and sand mixed together to give the consistancy of sand.

The explosions and bullet splashes in the water are made from cotton wool.

The Y frame obstacles are scrarch built and the hedgehogs are Italeri.

The dead figures are scratch built by me and the other figures are a mixture of Master box, Italeri, Tamiya, and ICM .

The landing craft and crews are Italeri but have been modified by me.

The waterproof gun covers are cling film and the discarded equipment are from my spares box.

I have used Tamiya and Vallejo paint and also Mig pigments.

Wow it is amazing
You have put a ton of work into this
What did you use for the water???
I would like a reference pic from farther back to get a sense of the overall size of it
Really is stunning

Much appreciated

The water is acrylic resin coloured with dye, I laid the resin down and then added scrunched up tinfoil to give the wave effects.

Here are a few of the photos you requested.

I am stunned and awed by this dio. To be honest the thing brought tears to my eyes thinking about those brave men and the epic struggles they endured that day.

Excellent work and a heat-felt homage to these great men and boys.

Truly museum quality work. Thank you.
