Russian Half Truck ZIS 42

Post by hansolo »

Hi guys,

My 2nd holiday entry in 1/72 scale.
The Russian Half Truck ZIS 42.
It's a Russian kit and the quality is quite poor. Lots of flesh and flimsy parts.
But it was an easy build and still lots of fun.

The box art.

The sprews. The green ones are the original sprews of the truck with 6 wheels. The grey sprew is the one with the half track parts.

The build.

I left the cabin and the roof of the cabin unglued so I could paint the interior later.

I used some left over parts for stowage.

I dug up a piece of packaging material form the trash can to use for window panes.
There weren't any provided with the kit.

Painted the base colour of the truck and the back cover and the inside of the cabin.

Next up: Detail painting and decals.

Spied one of these on Facebook in a 1/72 scale group (all built and painted to perfection i might add), by some guy in China.....
Excellent looking piece, so much so i went searching on Ebay and stumbled upon a kit including a Cannon to tow all in 1/72.
Was very nearly tempted until i too did some searching and found the kit was poor quality and needed someone special to turn it into that showstopper i had seen on Facebook....
You are that guy Han....... :th:  :thumb1:
I have faith in the Skills you possess dude... lol..

I too have read of how difficult this kit is to assemble, especially the tracks. You seem to have dispelled that story.

Your build looks great.

I would never guessed that this was a crappy kit :)
