HobbyBoss 1/72 Morser Karl Gerat 040 and Rail Transport

Its been close to 20 years since I did a 72nd armor or land vehicle. This has been in the bench for q quite a while and just finished it today:



First the Morser Karl Great 040. Built straight OOB. The challenge here is the tracks. Its a little tight and it takes a little effort to wrap them around the drive sprocket.



Painted with Tamiya German Grey and applied a little bit of post shading, washing and drybrushing to highlight the details.

The Transport

Comes as a separate kit. Again just straight forward assembly.


The tracks painted and weathered a bit. I sprinkled a little bit of baking soda to put some earth work into it.

How they fit all together:



HobbyBoss does not tell you how to combine these two kits in the instructions but the good news is that the mounting brackets of both kits perfectly align with one another. I cut some sewing pins and used it as the bolts (and they are in scale) to mount the Gerat to its transport system.

Now in reality the walkway platform should be in folded position and the hand rails stowed away during rail transport. I was in no mood to perform any surgery to the kit to I just left it as is.

Looks very good, especially the paint job.
Baking soda for earth, never thought of that, lets get some next time I'm shopping.
