Chiefs 48hr Battle of Britain Mk I Spitfire

Post by chief5437 »

Hi guys, here's my entry.

Image

I'm sure there'll be a few of these, lol!

Just a quick pic for now, Mrs Chief is picking up our weekend visitors from the train station as I type :eeek: I'll do my best to get this done, but no promises!

I'd best find some of that BoB spirit to get her off the ground!

Good luck guys :th: :thumb2: :th:

Hi fellas :th:

I sobered up..... Then had a bbq and got a bit tipsy again, lol! Still managed to make some headway on this.

Image

Had to use a bit of filler on the wing roots, never had to do this on the recent airfix spitfires before!

Image

Had a bit of an issue with the canopy. Every one (there's a total of six in the kit) just didn't seem to sit right. I went with the best and I'll hope it doesn't look too bad once some paint is on.

I offered up the undercarriage and it seems that it could be the (very!) weakest joint in the kit. But we'll see how that goes.

Thanks for looking guys :cheers2:

Well, with just over four hours left, it doesn't look like I'll meet the deadline :violin: FAIL!! :bash:

I think I'll ban all visitors to my house next time, lol!

Was fun watching the hangouts when I got chance though, cheers guys :cheers2:

DAKKA! DAKKA! DAKKA!

Finally got this finished! Nice kit, has a couple of issues, so not quite as good as Airfix's later Spitfire new tools. Still good though.

I wanted to do the Dakka Dakka Dakka spitfire from the film, so I had to search through my decal dungeon to find something usable. Not the best but I think it works ok.

Here's the screen star.

And here's mine. As you can see, I managed to drop it on the floor and broke the antenna mast, so it's a bit short now, lol!

Ps. You've inspired me to build a decal dungeon. Work starts tomorrow.
