King Tiger WIP

Post by Noobmodeler521 »

Hello all :hi:

Im working on Tamiya Tiger II tank in a late war project, probably the move into Germany from the Baltic area. I have already built the Tiger II and here is where I have gotten with it.
Image

I am planning on putting it in a diorama and here is how far as I have gotten as of now (small victory :D)

This is a wip so I will try to upload as soon as possible. :thumb2: :thumb2:

Help: I am having a little trouble finding late war camo schemes that are some what unique, do you guys have any ideas?

Thanks :cheers2:

Do you want an accurate one or not so much
The octopus scheme is really nice although labor intensive and was only done on one KT and that had the narrow transport tracks on it
Other wise the schemes are pretty much the same on 1945 vehicles but the colors could be different

Thanks for the kind words guys,
Mark: I am quite the guy to be historically accurate but the tracks seem to be a small thing I can let slide  also it would be a interesting try to do especially that I only use brushes no airbrush :D

Thanks

Hello all :welcome:

I have an update showing my current idea for the diorama and the painting scheme and weathering. I went after the octopus camo scheme and included rain streaks on the tank. Another thing I did was include the graffiti writing Herkules. I have to do more weathering on the mufflers, tracks, road wheels, and paint the telescopes on the driver and radio operator sides.

Umph! Octo camo! You're a brave dude, getting that to work is difficult no matter what method you use. Well done.
I like the headphones on the deck. That's a nice touch.

Hello all once again :hi:
I have finally gotten the courage to get back to Herkules and is almost complete. I have a little more detailing to do on some of the storage but the main tank is complete.

Thanks and also I'm still considering a base and also a commander and radio operator figures but still don't know. I built up a base already but needs to have some work done so it is still a big IF whether I choose to or not.

Thanks Chris

Hello All :hi:

I have finally finished this beast of a tank!!!
This tank includes stowage that comes from Value Gear and also spare parts. The wooden plank is simulated to have oil stains on the board as well. The headphones and boots are extra details on the front. I used real dry dirt for the weathering on the track and the rust on the exhausts is shades of black and oxide paint. This is hand painted and is based on the Octopus camo scheme. The commander figure is wearing spring SS pattern pants and his face has painted eyes which is my first time doing so. He also has a full beard although not well seen on the photos, it can be seen in person. The interior is from the kit and is nothing to fancy.

Anyway, here are the pictures.

Thanks
I used the Tamiya Kingtiger kit and no extra photoetch or resin added. Although it would be cool if I added my resin zimmerit pieces.

Loving the octopus camo, personally I think it would look better if u sprayed it as the brush strokes show up alot, but I'm very excited to see how it turns out :D

Thanks, I don't have access to an airbrush so I have always used a paintbrush. I tried to thin it out but it usually does show up a little. It is finished at this point as well.
