M4A3E2 Sherman 'Jumbo'

This is the Tasca kit where I got as far the primer coat last year.


So I decided to try some paints new to me and finish this kit up.

The paints themselves cover nicely and if you use all the colors it helps break up that monotone OD. My only complaint is that the color is way too green for my taste especially after you use the first filter color in the weathering set.



I mixed up a filter of raw umber oils and some Naptha thinner to cut back the green some.

This is the result so far. Still needs some dry brushing and then detail painting before putting some wear and tear on it.

I recently built this kit and it was my first ever sherman, it went together with no fuss and i really enjoyed building it. I shall be adding another to the stash at some point.

Have a small stash of Tasca Sherman' waiting in the wings. Love their kits. Was happy when Tamiya saw the light and issued the E8 and Firefly. Hope maybe we'll see more in the future. Thanks for the comments. Might get some stuff done on it this weekend.

Yes, that was I meant to say. I don't know if that was a one time special deal for Tamiya or if Asuka owns all the molds. Asuka is hard to come by here in the US right now.

Computer crashed so this is the first chance I've had to post anything here in a while. The tank is done for now. Just toying with ideas for a base to display it. Thinking about something involving 'dragons teeth' or other anti-tank obstacles......















But in the meantime I'm moving on with this..........

Cracking work on your jumbo mate! Got this kit myself but not had the chance to build it yet.

You will really like building this kit. One tip is to make sure to get the seam along the top rear of the turret. I missed it and too late to correct it now. Otherwise the fit is almost flawless. Love Tasca/Asuka Shermans!

Outstanding job on this kit. Really like the detail of this model and along with your paint, weathering and extras it really stands out. I just received this kit yesterday and now I am really glad I did. Your work has given me several ideas as to how to proceed with mind. Again outstanding work!

Thanks for the kind comments. It's been sitting in my display case with the intention of pulling it out and putting it on a base with some figures. I have got some other projects on the bench needing to be finished so maybe by the end of the year I can get it done.
