Befehlsjäger 38 AUSF. M 1/35

Post by Steady »

Found the forums a few weeks ago and it really made me want to get back into the hobby again so I joined up the other day and here I am with my first 1/35 model ever!!

So this arrived in the post today.
Was a long time since I last built anything so this looks like it's going to be a challenge to say the least.
Im used to 1/72 tanks with a lot less sprues involved :jd:

Keep in mind that this will be my first ever build using an airbrush aswell so thats going to be ... interesting!
Also ordered some washes, pigments and acrylics but im thinking I might need a few more colours for this build!

Here it is, was originally going to build the standard Marder III but the store called 1 day after my order and said that they didnt have that model anymore. But they did ask if it would be alright having this one instead without having to pay the difference I was happy to accept their offer!
Image

Had to clean up the workspace before I got started, rearranged the desk so that I could build under the window to get some better light!
Image

Was almost overwhelmed with how many sprues that came with a Dragon model!
Image
So much stuff!!! :o
Image

Well the instructions are similar from 1/72.. always starting with the wheels... :)

So after weeks of working everything out and ordering more stuff for the "cave", progress has now been made.
Had some technical difficulty with a front panel peice missing but the retailers sent me a new peice in just 1 week.

School has now started aswell so progress is not exactly fast but im getting there and today I hit the milestone of putting the interior togheter.

Wasn´t too sure on what colours to use for the interior but I did find some coloured refernce pictures but some of it I just "freehanded".

Put some gloss varnish around one of the caps on the engine to simulate oil, quite happy with the result.
Image

Another look, put a wide variety of browns in front of the drivers seat to make it look a bit more used.

Upgraded my workplace with a new cutting mat and some other stuff.

That is the most disgusting display of neatness on a workbench I have ever seen displayed. :D

Marvelous start mate!

So it´s been a while since my last update but lots of work has been done!
I had some issues with the wheater being terrible for 2 weeks which halted priming the model :(
But it has now been primed, shaded and camouflaged.

Here are a few pics of the progress so far! :D

(It looks a lot more yellow on the pictures than it does in real life but ohh well I guess we can call it the Bananajäger.)

Image

Never tried pre shading before and if you ask me it looks horrible at this state but I do like the result of it!

Did the chipping by hand all over the model, quite happy with how it turned out 8-)

Holy cow... first ever 1/35 scale build? That is looking very nice. The interior is outstanding. Well, so is the exterior.
As for your work station, I really like it. Very neat and organized, and it looks like you have a beautiful view out of that window.
