Virtual cockpit panos

Post by cjm63 »

Hi :hi:
Just got back into modelling, so still at the old newbie phase :D and I came across this site which I think is great, its probably old hat to you guys.

The National Naval Aviation Museum website has some great info and photos, but what stuck me was the virtual cockpits. When I read this I thought it would be 3D animation, but it turns out to be 360 degree photographic panos. Really gives you clear pictures of their restored aircraft cockpits.

Anyone know of similar sites that provide similar reference materials?

Cheers

Hi all,

I'm not sure if this would be useful to anyone here, but the National Museum of the USAF has a nice section of virtual cockpits that may come in handy to anyone looking for up close and personal detail of various cockpits. Obviously not everything in the museum is included, but some of the more iconic planes are. http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/Visit/ ... it360.aspx

I've been to the museum twice in recent years and it is well worth the visit if you happen to be close to the area. The B-29 fuselage tour always holds a special place for me as my dad trained in them at the end of WWII. He never saw combat, but it does instill a great sense of pride in what he accomplished during that time.

Even if it isn't helpful, it's still a pretty cool site to browse. After searching and finding this thread, I thought it might be nice to have both the NAVY and USAF together.
