Chiefs 1/72 Airfix Harrier GR9

Post by chief5437 »

Hi fellas :th:
This is my entry to the nadr GB. I swore I'd stop doing 1/72 kits, I never seem happy with them. :bash: but I couldn't find a GR9 in 1/48, so we'll have to see how it goes :

Here's a pic of one in theatre.

Good luck guys :cheers2:

Hi fellas :th:

Bit of progress on this.

Main assy done and primed. No problems with the kit, just a little filler on the wing to fuselage joint.

Then got the main paint work down. Nearly ran out of masking tape, lol!

That's it for now, I'm on with some details and decals at the mo.
Thanks for looking :cheers2: :thumb2:

Hey you guys! :th:

Update on the harrier, all decaled up and glossed.

Gave it a Ultimate dark dirt wash. Next up is a Matt coat, then weathering. I know what I want to do with this, but not sure how I'm going to do it yet, lol!

Thanks for looking :cheers2:

Hi guys :th:
Final update!

So this it the strange effect I wanted...

Image

And this is what I ended up with. It's not what I was looking for, but not too bad. I think it would be easier (for my skills anyway!) at a bigger scale :

Image

It turned out ok on the drop tanks, but not so well on the wings :violin: I used a dark, mid and light grey enamel wash, in a dot filter method to do this. A bit more skill and it would be better I think.

Anyway, that done, I grabbed some supplies to make a little base. Small picture frame, 3 for a pound at the £ shop. And some wet/dry sand paper.

Image

Cut to size, a light dusting with Ultimate's sand wash, and black pastel for tyre marks. The yellow line is just tamiya masking tape!

Image

And that's it done! I'll post a bit of bumf and pics in the reveal section.

Thanks for looking, and for the kind comments fellas! :cheers2: :cheers2:
